2010 Season

Coming off a third season without a sniff of the playoffs, the 2010 Chicago bears are looking to Lovie Smith to lead them back to greatness.  It's clear Smith isn’t taking the blame for the past as five assistant coaches are not back this year.  New coaches to the team include Mike Tice (offensive line coach), Mike Martz (Offensive Coordinator), Mike DeBord (Tight Ends Coach), Rod Marinelli (Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach), Shane Day (Offensive Line Coach), Andrew Hayes-Stoker and Mikal Smith (both Quality Control Coaches).

As for the team, the franchise went out and signed three key free agents, DE Julius Peppers, RB Chester Taylor and TE Brandon Manumaleuna.  In the 2010 draft the team had no first or second round picks and with their first pick selected Florida FS Major Wright (75th overall), DE Corey Wootten (109th overall), Kansas State CB Joshua Moore (140th overall), Central Michigan QB Dan LeFevour (181st overall) and West Texas A&M OT J’Marcus Webb.

Prior Seasons

In the 2007-08 season fans looking to buy Bears tickets can expect a promising season from their team. The Bears have two positives this season, the first one being a strong tight end. Olsen is fast, can block, and has excellent hands - he's new to Chicago and NFL, but he should settle in quite nicely. The second positive - and one Chicago is known for - is its special teams. Coach Dave Toub has managed great punting and kickoffs - especially with Devin Hester on hand. Robbie Gould is brilliant with field goals, so together the Bears Special Teams will definitely create opportunities for the ofense and defense in '07. Expectations are high for another Super Bowl run for the Bears.

The 2005-2006 Chicago Bears look like the storied Bears’ teams of the 1980s: an intimidating defense that limits opponents’ abilities to challenge the team from the Windy City. Second-year cornerback Nathan Vasher led the NFC in interception return yards last year, and veteran defensive lineman Brian Urlacher has led the Bears in tackles in four of the last five seasons. After recent years of struggling, Chicago has regained its status among the NFC elite.

Chicago Bears football tickets to Soldier Field have always provided entrance into one of the best environments in the National Football League. The 1980s remains the most well regarded decade in the Bears’ history. Guided by head coach Mike Ditka, the Bears played for the NFC Championship three times and won Super Bowl XX. Linebacker Mike Singletary’s efforts helped limit the New England Patriots to a record low seven rushing yards in the Super Bowl XX victory. Following the footsteps of former Bears’ middle linebacker Dick Butkus, Singletary was one of the most feared tacklers in the NFL in the 80s. In his 12 years with the Bears, Singletary made 10 trips to the Pro Bowl, missing only two regular season games as he became one of the most respected players to ever play in Chicago.

However, it wasn’t just defense that earned the Bears of the 1980s their position among some of the most storied teams in history. Running back Walter Payton, who played for the Bears from 1975 to 1987, shattered Jim Brown’s all-time NFL rushing record while helping Chicago’s offense become equally intimidating as its defense. While the Dallas Cowboys’ Emmitt Smith later broke his record, Payton is remembered by many as the greatest player to ever be a part of the NFL. His blocking ability and fearless attitude toward taking hits from some of the most daunting defensive stars in the league set him apart from any other running back. Even with his intense physical play, Payton only missed one game of his 13 seasons with the Bears, retiring with 125 touchdowns and nearly 17,000 rushing yards.

Despite some of the most talented players in NFL history on their roster, the Bears did not have a great deal of postseason success after their only Super Bowl victory. They won their division, the NFC Central, three consecutive years after the championship, but they have yet to make a return to the Super Bowl.

Following Ditka’s exit from Chicago, the Bears struggled through the 1990s, making one trip to the playoffs after 1992 and going through a number of coaching changes. However, after the recent hardships in Chicago, the 2005-2006 Bears are restoring the city to its place among football excellence. Head coach Lovie Smith leads the team to its first trip to the playoffs since 2001 after a season on top of the newly formed NFC North division. While the team faces the expected challenges of deciding between two young quarterbacks, Kyle Orton and Rex Grossman, the 2005-2006 Bears’ season proves that defense is the key to football success.
